Saft unveils a new brand identity
Paris, June 23, 2026 — Saft, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies and a global leader in advanced battery technologies, today celebrates its 10th anniversary within TotalEnergies and unveils a new visual identity during a visit by Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies, to Saft’s industrial site in Bordeaux, in the presence of several hundred employees. Operating in strategic sectors such as energy, aerospace, defense, mobility, and data centers, Saft is also a key player in TotalEnergies’ energy transition strategy.
Ten years ago, TotalEnergies and Saft began writing their shared story, built on a strong conviction: the key role of electricity storage in the energy transition. Today, our teams bring this ambition to life every day, and thanks to their commitment and Saft’s unique expertise, we are moving toward our objective of producing 100 to 120 TWh of electricity by 2030.
Saft has experienced strong growth over the past ten years since its integration into TotalEnergies. Today, our new identity reflects both the modernity of our company, the pride we feel in belonging to the TotalEnergies family, and the key role we play in delivering affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy.
Saft at the core of TotalEnergies’ electricity strategy
Since 2020, TotalEnergies has been building a competitive portfolio combining renewable assets (solar, onshore wind, offshore wind) and flexible assets (CCGT, storage) to deliver low-carbon electricity to customers 24/7. In 2026, TotalEnergies has nearly 36 GW of gross renewable electricity generation capacity and aims to achieve more than 100 TWh of net electricity production by 2030.
With its integration into TotalEnergies, Saft has established itself in new markets, particularly industrial electricity storage, which is now a central driver of its development in the context of the growth of renewable energies, where batteries help stabilize production. Saft has already deployed or is in the process of deploying more than 10 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) worldwide, across nearly 170 projects.
Saft, a growing company at the heart of key sectors
At the time of its acquisition in 2016, Saft was already a recognized leader in high-tech batteries. Ten years later, the company has scaled up significantly: its solutions power more than 400 satellites currently in orbit, equip nearly 80% of commercial aircraft, 75% of metro systems, and more than 100 railway networks worldwide with innovative battery systems. In France, for example, Saft notably equips the TGV, including the next-generation TGV M expected in 2026.
At the same time, Saft is investing heavily in breakthrough technologies, particularly solid-state batteries. Based on a solid electrolyte rather than a liquid one, this technology represents a major leap forward for future battery generations, offering significant gains in safety, performance, and energy density. Saft is already producing its first cells, and the first industrial applications using this technology are expected soon.
One constant has remained throughout Saft’s history: its purpose.
