MaxSolar and Saft announce strategic collaboration to support Europe's growing demand for battery energy storage
Traunstein/Paris, July 23, 2026 – MaxSolar and Saft have signed an agreement for the first battery energy storage project in Quitzow, Brandenburg, Germany, marking an important step in the deployment of flexible and resilient energy infrastructure in Europe. The project also serves as the foundation of a broader strategic partnership between the two companies aimed at accelerating future battery storage developments across key European markets.
The “Quitzow II” project, developed by Denker & Wulf AG and being delivered on a turnkey basis by MaxSolar as EPC partner, will provide an installed capacity of 30 MW and a storage capacity of 76.5 MWh. With this project, Denker & Wulf AG is further expanding its activities in the field of energy storage. The battery energy storage system will be constructed by Denker & Wulf AG as a co-location project alongside an existing wind farm and its associated substation, thereby making use of the existing grid infrastructure.
For the project, Saft will provide advanced battery energy storage technology, drawing on its long-standing experience in delivering safe, reliable and high-performance solutions for critical energy applications. The collaboration combines Saft's battery expertise with MaxSolar's capabilities in developing and delivering complex energy infrastructure projects.
The announcement follows a meeting between the leadership teams of both companies during the latest edition of Intersolar Europe, where MaxSolar and Saft formalized a broader strategic cooperation. Building on the successful launch of “Quitzow II”, the two companies intend to explore additional opportunities for battery energy storage projects across Europe.
