Saft spacecraft batteries to answer all the space missions and applications  

Extreme environments need reliable batteries. Saft’s lithium-ion batteries for space are designed with rigorous standards to ensure mission success.

Our solutions are used in GEO telecommunication, MEO global-positioning satellites, and LEO satellites for high-power telecommunications, observation, and defense. Other applications include space experiments, launchers, space transfer vehicles, rovers, planetary landers, astronaut tools, space object study, and deep space probes. 

Built to meet objectives

Saft’s Li-ion cells are adapted for space applications from proven designs. They are manufactured at four sites: Cockeysville, MD (USA), Nersac (France), Poitiers (France), and Bordeaux (France), meeting the quality, schedule, and cost objectives of space programs.

Space qualified lithium-ion batteries

Saft masters all steps from electrodes to full battery solutions and offers all technologies used in space: Rechargeable lithium (Li-ion) incorporating electronics for safety, and in some specific cases Primary lithium or Nickel.  

Saft’s integrated modular package combines electronics and electrochemistry, providing a system with intelligent autonomous cell balancing management, optimized for easy installation and instant operation.
